MIPI transmission has the following advantages:
High-speed data transfer
Meeting High-Resolution Needs: The MIPI interface supports
high-speed data transfers of up to several Gbps to meet the needs
of mobile devices for high-resolution, high-refresh rate displays
as well as high-definition video and image processing applications.
For example, the MIPI CSI-2 supports data rates up to 10Gbps, and
the bandwidth can be extended with multi-channel technology to
transmit high-resolution and high-frame-rate images.
Multi-Channel Technology: Multi-channel data transmission, such as MIPI D-PHY supports up to 8 channels, MIPI C-PHY supports up to 18 channels, each with a rate of up to 2.5Gbps, and the data rate can be further increased by increasing the number of channels to realize higher transmission bandwidth.
Low Power Consumption
Low-voltage signaling design: The MIPI interface utilizes
low-voltage signaling, which reduces power consumption and extends
the battery life of mobile devices, which is critical for devices
that require battery life, such as mobile devices.
Two modes of operation: Interfaces such as the MIPI D-PHY have two modes of operation: high-speed HS and low-power LP. When large amounts of data such as images need to be transmitted, it can be switched to the high-speed mode, and when large amounts of data do not need to be transmitted, it can be switched to the low-power mode, which can not only ensure the efficiency of data transmission, but also effectively reduce power consumption.
